A Japanese woman has celebrated a wedding ceremony with a life-size doll inspired by Ingus, one of the protagonists of Final Fantasy III , drawing attention to the growing visibility of unconventional relationships between people and fictional characters.

The ceremony was attended by the woman’s family and Akihiko Kondo, the Japanese man who became widely known after holding a wedding ceremony with virtual pop star Hatsune Miku in 2018.

Although the event celebrated the woman’s bond with the fictional character, she acknowledged that the marriage has no legal validity and that the doll has no official connection to the franchise’s rights holders.
